Configuring Mozilla Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free application used to manage emails directly from one’s computer, rather than in an internet browser, and provides many ways to organize and filter email messages. Simply use your Kenyon email address, <yourusername>@kenyon.edu as the Google Apps Username.

Gmail provides the fastest and most comprehensive access to your Kenyon account, and we recommend using Gmail to manage your mail. But you may also configure a mail client, such as Mozilla Thunderbird. Use mail clients only on personal or office computers, do not configure mail clients in public labs. Google hosts up-to-date instructions for configuring email clients for use with Kenyon Gmail. In order to use a mail client with Gmail, you will need to create an application password. If you encounter issues generating an application password to use with your mail client, please call Helpline at 1-740-427-5700, or email helpline@kenyon.edu

Instructions for account setup can be found on the Mozilla page: https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/manual-account-configurati...

The server settings will need to be set manually using the manual config button and should be as follows:
Once the account is set up, further information about configuring your existing Gmail to work with Thunderbird can be found at:                                    https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail
