- If you get a User Account Control warning asking if you want to allow this app to make changes to your device, click on Yes.
- EMS version 223 will be removed from your Windows computer.
Installing the New Version (224)
Important: The new version will not be available for download until the upgrade is complete!- On your Windows computer, open a web browser like Google Chrome.
- In your web browser, navigate to https://ems.kenyon.edu/EmsDesktopWebDeploy.
- On the webpage, under step one, click the link to Download and Install the EMS Desktop Client.
- Your web browser will try to download two files: EMSApplication.exe and emswebdeployconfiguration.cfg. When it tries to download the emswebdeployconfiguration.cfg file, you might get a warning and the browser might not download the file. If this happens, expand the menu next to this item, then choose to download it anyways.
- Run the EMSApplication.exe program by double-clicking on it to open it.
- EMS will be installed into your Windows profile. If you were not able to get the emswebdeployconfiguration.cfg file, you will be asked to input a web configuration URL. If you are asked for this, enter https://ems.kenyon.edu/EmsDesktopWebDeploy.
Non-Windows (including macOS) Clients
Important: The EMS Desktop Client will not be installed on the employee virtual lab computers until after the upgrade has been completed. The EMS Desktop Client is the ONLY way to access the new version of EMS. The EMS Web Client has been deprecated by Kenyon as of version 224. This means that ems.kenyon.edu/EmsWebClient will not go anywhere anymore!
Instead of using the EMS Desktop Client, you will need to use the Virtual Lab, since the EMS Desktop Client is only available for Windows clients. The Virtual Lab allows you to access a special computer from your computer that has EMS loaded onto it.
To access the virtual lab computer, go to https://virtuallab.kenyon.edu and sign in using your single sign-on credentials, then complete the two-factor authentication step. Finally, choose the Employee Lab computer to connect to. The EMS 224 desktop client is preinstalled on this lab computer.
