Install Malwarebytes

1. In a web browser, go to www.malwarebytes.org.
2. Click Free Version Download to download the free trial version.
3. In the folder where your web browser saves downloads, open the installation file and follow the instructions to install the program.
4. Make sure put a check in the box marked Update Malwarebytes’ Anti Malware at the end of the installation procedure.

Update Malware Definitions

1. Run Malwarebytes.
2. When it starts, click the Update tab.
3. In the Update window, click Check for Updates.

Scan for Threats

1. Run Malwarebytes.
2. Choose whether you want to perform a Quick or Full Scan. (Quick Scan will only search through the most common folders that could contain malware, while a Full Scan takes longer and searches completely through selected drives. If your computer is running slow or showing suspicious symptoms, set aside 60–90 minutes and run a Full Scan.)
3. Click Scan.
4. When the scan is complete, click Show Results to display the list of infected files.
5. Click Remove Selected to remove all infected files.
6. Restart your computer.
7. Run a Full Scan a second time. If Malwarebytes does not identify any new threats, it is likely that all threats have been removed.
