Chalmers 438 Classroom Tech instructions:


To use the classroom computer with room TVs
  1. Log into the classroom computer with your Kenyon network username and password.
  2. On the white control panel on the credenza, press the “Press to Begin” icon.
  1. The TVs will turn on, and the control panel will display the video routing screen.


  1. Ensure that the “PC” icon on the left is highlighted yellow.  If not, press it, and press the “Send to All” icon.  This will display the PC on both TVs.
  2. If playing back a video or sound clip, adjust the volume using the + or – icons at the lower right of the control panel.
  3. When finished, log out of the computer and press the “Power” icon in the upper right of the control panel.

To use a laptop with room TVs
  1. Currently, the only method to display a laptop’s contents on the TVs is wirelessly, using the Ditto system and/or Apple TV.
  2. On the white control panel on the credenza, press the “Press to Begin” icon.
  3. The TVs will turn on, and the control panel will display the video routing screen.
  4. Press the “Apple TV” icon on the left, and press the “Send to All” icon.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to screencast the contents of your device to the TVs.  Your device must be connected to “Kenyon Wifi” or “Kenyon Devices” in order to use this service.

To set up a Google Meet or Zoom session using the TVs, webcam, and conference microphones
  1. In order to set up a Google Meet or Zoom in this room, you must check out the two Shure conference microphones from the Circulation Desk on the first floor of Chalmers Library.  You will need your Kenyon ID.  The microphones have a 4 hour checkout period.
  2. Begin by plugging in the microphones to the yellow jacks in the round floor access panel in the center of the room.  Open the door to the access panel which is labeled Conference Mic Plugs, pictured below.


  1. Plug the cables into the yellow jacks inside the floor access panel. 
  1. The microphones will glow blue, and then, after 60 secs, green, to show they are ready.
  2. At the Extron control panel on the credenza, press the “Press to Begin” icon to start up the TV system.
  3. The TVs will turn on, and the control panel will display the video routing screen.

  1. Ensure that the “PC” icon on the left is highlighted yellow.  If not, press it, and press the “Send to All” icon.  This will display the PC on both TVs.
  2. Log in and launch the Zoom or Google Meet software on the computer.
  3. In the sound settings of the video conference software, ensure that the microphone and speaker are set to “Echo Cancelling Speakerphone” and the camera is set to “HD Pro Webcam C920).

To play a DVD on the room TVs.
  1. You can use the computer’s DVD drive to play back a DVD.  The computer is located inside the left credenza cabinet, at the bottom of the rack.
  2. Place the DVD (standard, not BluRay) inside the DVD drive of the computer.
  3. At the Extron control panel on the credenza, press the “Press to Begin” icon to start up the TV system.
  4. The TVs will turn on, and the control panel will display the video routing screen.


  1. Ensure that the “PC” icon on the left is highlighted yellow.  If not, press it, and press the “Send to All” icon.  This will display the PC on both TVs.  You may turn one of the TVs off using the “Display Controls” icon at the bottom of the control panel.
  2. Utilize the VLC Media Player software on the computer to play back the DVD.
